Description In 2019, Accurat was commissioned to create the central installation for the XXII Triennale Milano exhibition Broken Nature: Design Takes on Human Survival. This exhibition explored how design can help restore humanity’s fragile relationship with nature. At its entrance, The Room of Change served as a striking introduction—an immersive, 30-meter-long handmade data tapestry that visualized humanity’s impact on the environment from 1000 B.C. to 2400 A.D. Structured around eight macro themes, the tapestry illustrated long-term global and local changes in biodiversity, climate, resource consumption, and technological progress. To complement this large-scale perspective, two adjacent digital screens displayed NASA satellite imagery of environmental shifts over the last 20 years, offering a relatable, real-time contrast to the tapestry’s sweeping historical timeline.

Beyond its visual impact, The Room of Change functioned as an educational tool. A central pedestal provided deeper insights into the data, contextualizing key moments in human history and their environmental consequences. The handcrafted nature of the tapestry reinforced the tangible, lasting effects of human actions, transforming raw data into an emotionally engaging experience. By integrating historical data with contemporary visuals, The Room of Change encouraged visitors to reflect on the interconnectedness of humanity and nature, making environmental change both comprehensible and personal.
