Description Accurat partnered with Target and TED to create an engaging, data-driven activity at the TED2017 conference in Vancouver. Target wanted to connect with guests in a meaningful way and encourage networking in an interactive and memorable fashion. To bring this vision to life, we collaborated with David Stark Design to develop a unique Data Portrait experience. This experience transformed attendees' personality traits into visually compelling, custom-designed pins. The process began with a personality-based survey, where participants answered intriguing questions such as "How messy is your desk?" and "Do you follow or break rules?". These responses were analyzed in real time and converted into vibrant, one-of-a-kind designs created by renowned information designer Giorgia Lupi. The final data portraits were then printed onto wearable pins, allowing attendees to display their personality visually and spark organic conversations throughout the event.

This innovative approach not only fostered meaningful connections among attendees but also provided them with a tangible, personalized keepsake of their TED2017 experience. Over the course of the event, more than 500 Data Portraits were created, with each participant receiving both a physical pin and its digital companion to share online. The overwhelming success of this activation demonstrated the power of personalized data visualization in bringing people together, reinforcing the idea that data, when presented creatively, can be an engaging and impactful tool for connection. By merging technology, design, and human interaction, the project left a lasting impression on attendees, making their experience at TED2017 even more memorable.
