Description Here’s a longer and more detailed version of your text:An initiative of the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), MethaneSAT is a groundbreaking satellite designed to monitor methane emissions across the globe with an unprecedented level of detail and accuracy. Methane, a potent greenhouse gas responsible for significant contributions to climate change, has long been difficult to track comprehensively. MethaneSAT aims to bridge this gap by providing high-resolution, near-real-time data on methane leaks from oil and gas operations, agriculture, and other sources, equipping scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders with actionable insights to combat emissions more effectively. The project represents a major step forward in environmental monitoring, harnessing cutting-edge satellite technology to drive global climate action.

In collaboration with Giorgia Lupi’s and Abbot Miller’s teams at Pentagram, Accurat played a key role in developing the online hub for MethaneSAT, translating the satellite’s complex scientific mission into an engaging and accessible digital experience. Working alongside Pentagram’s strategists and designers, we crafted a dynamic, storytelling-driven website featuring interactive data visualizations that illustrate the project’s goals, methodologies, and expected impact. The website serves as a primary resource for journalists, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, providing a clear and compelling entry point into MethaneSAT’s mission. Data visualizations seamlessly integrate photography with key figures and scientific models, drawing connections between methane emissions and human-led activities such as fossil fuel extraction, agriculture, and wildfires. The bold yet minimalist design ensures clarity and impact, while the charts and graphics are optimized for social media sharing, reinforcing EDF’s message with urgency and efficiency. The microsite was built as a fully responsive, mobile-first experience on a flexible, WordPress-based headless CMS, allowing EDF to autonomously update content and data while maintaining advanced interactive features. By combining innovative storytelling with robust data presentation, the MethaneSAT online platform helps amplify the project’s reach and influence, empowering decision-makers with the knowledge they need to take meaningful action against methane pollution.
