Description "data landscapes: venice" reinterprets the meaning of landscape painting in the digital age. Created by Accurat, the project transforms the Venetian landscape tradition through a data-driven artistic approach that integrates data collection, color detection, image recognition, and creative coding. Raw data was scraped, analyzed, and translated into metadata, which was then visualized and composed into intricate digital landscapes. This digital vision was brought to life through a pen plotter—an automated drawing device that mimics the precision and fluidity of hand-drawn lines. Using pens, markers, and brushes, the machine meticulously traced algorithmically generated compositions onto paper, resulting in a series of 29 unique drawings. By blending computational processes with physical craftsmanship, the project explores the intersection of tradition and technology in contemporary art.

Accurat presented "data landscapes: venice" as part of Scoletta dell'Arte: Digital Reform, an exhibition organized by TAEX at the historic Scoletta Tiraoro e Battioro in Venice in 2024. Curated by Antonio Geusa, the exhibition explored the convergence of digital and analog artistic practices, featuring works by internationally recognized artists and collectives, including Shu Lea Cheang, MAOTIK, Funa Ye, Andrea Meregalli, Francesco D’Isa, and Accurat. Through this showcase, "data landscapes: venice" engaged in a broader dialogue about the evolving nature of artistic expression, demonstrating how contemporary artists are redefining the boundaries of art in an increasingly data-driven world.
